Trust Me I Have a Coupon for That...

Hi everyone!  Sorry I have been nursing a stress fracture as well as vacationing to Las Vegas with friends.  While down there I was able to snag some FABULOUS deals that I want to share with you.

Upon arrival solo in the amazing city at the ripe hour of 6 AM :/  I contemplated what I was going to do to kill time until our hotel allowed me to check-in as well as until the other girls arrived.  The concierge allowed me to store my luggage with them for free and they also offered a free shuttle to the grocery store and then another free shuttle to the outlet malls.  I decided to take advantage of this since everyone knows how expensive taxis can be especially in this lovely city (I swear the taxi drivers take the longest route possible).  While at the grocery store I loaded up on snacks to avoid having to pay the ridiculous jacked up prices ( FYI even Subway charges $1.35 extra for the SAME EXACT sandwich).  After returning back and putting my luggage in the room that I was able to allow them to let me check-in to 2 hours early :) I jumped on the next shuttle to the outlets!!  My first was to the Information Booth so I could pick-up the coupon book and have access to exclusive coupons for every store.  They typically charge $5, but I asked them how I could get one for free and the nice gentleman told me to show my out-of-state license and I could have one.  I decided while I read through the booklet and mapped out a game plan I would get my hair curled by the nice lady offering.  She was super nice even after I was brutally honest with her about having no intensions of purchasing her special straightner an still curled all my hair.  This allowed me ample time to decide that my poor swollen, nasty fractured foot deserved new running shoes!  The Nike Store offered a coupon for $25 off a purchase of $100.  I knew the Nike Airs that I wanted were $129, so I figured I was good to go!  After trying on the shoes and absolutely falling in love with the comfort the salesman informed me that I could save almost $50 by buying the "child's version" of the shoes.  I laughed hysterically and assured him my size 8 1/2 feet were definitely NOT child's size.  He then told me that a 7M in kids is equivalent to my size.  YIPPY!!!  Not only were these shoes cheaper, but so much cuter too!!  I then was able to get this jacket for basically free by using that coupon I found in the outlet booklet.

Another great way to save is to take a peak inside the coupon books the hotel provides.  While walking to Denny's at 4 A.M. with my girlfriends I announced we would be saving $10 off of our meal due to my coupon that I found.  They all laughed and stated that only I would do such an awesome thing!

Icing the ol foot with my hot water from SBUX!
In the end never let a price be bottom line, research it out and BARGAIN.... BARGAIN... BARGAIN!!

Anyone feeling ArTsY?

The picture says it all....

By purchasing "oops paint" from either Home Depot or Lowes you can save up to 90% off of retail price.  My mom and I LOVE finding cool colors of paint and then using it to re-do a piece of furniture.

SPA DAY!

Yesterday I decided to treat myself well by booking a spa day!  I know you all are thinking "woah, cheapy actually spent money?"  I did folks!  Only $25 though for a facial and an hour massage :)  It was SPECTACULAR!  UCMT offers massages or other various treatments ranging from $5-$25 for a full body massage.  I buy the gift certificates and therefore it knocks my cost in half.

Please use this attached coupon and get yourself all pampered up.

It MUST be luck....

My appliances arrived yesterday.... wahoooo!!!  I am just about done cooking my chicken fingers in the microwave and SO ready to actually use my cute mugs, plates, bowls, etc. that I bought like 3 years ago.  In my defense folks... washing dishes by hands is not ideal to say the least.  Anywho, back to my fancy new appliances.  I answered the door wearing a bathrob and a soaken wet dog and this being the case could very well could be why I was able to snag such a deal, but who knows.  After the two dudes were done bringing in my dishwasher and OTR microwave they noticed that the stainless steel range had a tiny little scratch on the front.  (Honestly I could not even see the thing).  Anyways, I worked my negotiating skills and was able to get these gentleman to call their supervisor to clear yet another discount on my behalf!  I merely mentioned that my life savings went to these 3 pieces for my kitchen and the fact that one of em was damaged goods kind of put a damper on things.  They of course felt bad and therefore hooked me UP!!!  By doing this I was able to get Lowes to put $70 back on my credit card.  Good thing I asked, right?  And just between you and I, I would have have kept the range even without the discount ;)

Stay tuned for more pictures of my appliances after they are all installed....

Also, everyone is invited to my official "Use EVERY Dish in my House Party".  It will be EPIC!

The other night I was talking to some friends about my Blog and some ideas they thought would be cool if I were to implement them into my process.  Spencer Knaphus suggested that I also allow him the opportunity to "guest appear" in my Blog (the kid is HILARIOUS... enough said).  Nonetheless, I though what a brillant plan to have others share their tips and ideas.

You will not want to miss Spencer Knaphus's "guest appearance" on how speaking up to manufacturers when you are not completely satisfied can truly benefit you as well as save you money.  I anticipate his words of advice to be highly inspirational for all of us!

Ain't That The Truth....

Have you ever thought about how most really wealthy people are extremely frugal?

In my personal experience with my own father I can attest to this notation.  The man, bless his heart, dresses somewhat like a homeless person at times (I sure hope he never reads this, ha ha).  He likes to sport around in sweat pants and a t-shirt.  So, one would never guess that has done very well for himself.  My dad was able to retire from a well-known pharmaceutical company when he was in his early 40's.  He has since then bought countless properties and flipped them.  His most recent purchase was up in Deer Valley at the St. Regis!!  Ya, basically AMAZING to say the least.  There is a freaking TV inside the bathroom mirror!  In order for my dad to be able to afford such elaborate condos he has had to be very smart and cautious with where he spends his money.  I honestly think it is like a gene that is embedded into my siblings and I.... "the thrifty gene".  At times it truly can be exhausting to always being weighing the pros and cons of EVERY purchase.  Nonetheless, I honestly believe that wealthy people get ahead by being well aware of their money and the places in which it is spent or saved.  I snatched the picture below from my The Funicular (a gondola on the side of the mountain) ride up to the resort.  PS apparently Oprah Winfrey stayed at The St. Regis this past week for Sundance.

My take-away tip from this Blog post is to make yourself aware of how each and every purchase will effect your budget.  Stay focused on having a large sum in savings by truly paying attention to every single purchase you make!  I say we all one day own super fancy condos and sip tea with Oprah Winfrey, ha ha ha.... till next time**

Dine For FREE!

By using the Happenings Book we were able to have a super fun girl's dinner and also save money.  The next time you are at a family party ask your cousins if they are selling these fabulous little books to raise money for their schools.  Not only only will you be helping out the kiddies, but you will be saving a ton of money.  I always keeps mine in the car and try and use them when I am out and about.  It is fun to try new places and be able to justify eating out.

Another great way to be able to eat out and save money is to take advantage of the in house cards they offer. For example; Cafe Rio's punch card, Paradise Bakery's points card, SBUX's Gold Card (which happens to be my ALL time favorite one).  I am very diligent about keeping these cards with me to ensure that I reap my points/benefits after earning them.  I can honestly say that I have probably received 100 FREE meals/drinks in the past years just by using my own as well as combining them with ones that others felt were a waste to hang on to.  At first it can truly seem like such an extra hastle to keep all these cards, but the little effort it takes to do so will benefit in the long run.

**We went to www.paradisebakery.com with Chris and Crystal and you better believe that I used my points card!

My boyfriend and I actually talked about this today, how just by doing the little things each month such as: buying gas from www.Costco.com, clipping coupons, turning unused lights off in the home, etc. will add up!  I started a monthly budget when I first moved out and over the past three years I try to add new ideas of how I can cut costs out of it.... I like to call it "trimming off the excess fat".

This week implement one of my ideas into your routine and watch your pocketbook grow!

Traveling on a Budget!

Last night my brother-in-law (well kind of :) was browsing through my Facebook pics and he saw that I recently went to Europe!  He text me asking how I was able to afford such a costly adventure given the Real Estate Market being super tough right now and therefore putting a damper in my income.  In all honesty though I was able to travel to 3 countries in 12 days for under $2k.  That amount included EVERYTHING; train pass, flight from Italy to Paris, flight from Paris to Switzerland, food, souvenirs, exhibit tickets.... literally the whole trip!  Granted my friend Casey Tomasiak and I are both super frugal, thus resulting in our ability to make this budget work.  In all honesty though I felt like all in all I saw everything and more that I had my heart set out to see.  To keep costs down on food we ate at the markets in Europe a lot rather than dining out and paying the ridiculous $10 for WATER surcharge.  We also booked our flight in the mid-week rather than on a weekend day.  By doing this we saved $200 off of our flight.  It is extremely important to watch flight costs DAILY because they really do fluctuate that often.  Also, if possible try to be flexible on the dates.  Traveling on off dates help save a ton too!  We unfortunately had to travel over a holiday and therefore this raised our airfare a little bit.  Case was able to use his frequent flyer miles that he has accumulated from work traveling as well as American Express purchases to pay for his flight to Europe!!!  The kid truly is the guru for traveling.

Here are several tips I have gathered for everyone looking to travel; whether it be exotic or even close to home, travelling does not have to cost you an arm and a leg.

Ideas to travel and still SAVE!

Another great way to take advantage of flying for free is to do like Casey did and use your frequent flyer miles to put towards flights.  I have been saving mine and I already 50,000 points.  My mom likes to use hers, 250,000 miles, and puts them towards a BIG family trip!!

5 Money Saving Tips Provided by Bria

I can totally vouch for the tip on organizing receipts and tracking where each and every dollar goes.  My friend Nicole teases me that I never commit to buying anything without the use of a coupon or discount of some sort.  It is very true!  I will not buy anything at retail price; rather I will research the particular item and find a coupon or discount to justify the purchase.  Not only does it make the buying process more fun, but I also save money!

Bria Has Testimonials~

Breanne was wanting to take her fiance' to dinner at Mimi's Cafe, so she contacted me for a good deal.  I was SUPER excited for this mission and wanted to make their night as special as possible.  I called out to the Mimi's in Murray on State Street and asked to talk to a manager.  By contacting the manager and doing a little sucking up to her I was able to snag Breanne and her man a $5 off coupon, free desert, and 8 PM reservations!  Cherilynn (the manager) also is sending me $10 off coupons for my followers of my Blog!

25 Tips To Save Mula aka MONEY!

I came across this article and I found it to be beneficial, so I thought I would share.

25 Ways to Save Money!!

Try and incorporate one of these tips this week.

***Proof to the MADNESS***

For all you that still remain skeptical of using coupons to save money, here goes...

By taking 10 minutes to clip coupons one can cut up 50% off their grocery bill!  I have in the past made purchases where the manufacturer literally paid me to purchase their items.  You can also do this by combining store coupons with manufacturer coupons on top of the particular item being on sale! It is a SWEET feeling!!

IMAG0312.jpg

Is it bad that I look forward to my aunt's Sunday Newspaper so I can clip the coupons?  In my defense, so I do not look like a total nerd.... I also read the Funnies :)

New kitchen.... YES PLEASE!!!

After purchasing the island I realized I now needed to redesign my kitchen and make room for a dishwasher!!!  Yay no more washing by hands, aka me using plastic spoons, forks, plates, etc.

I AM GOING GREEN NOW, HA HA!

Of course remodeling can be ridiculously expensive though, but not when you use what I have taught you to do.  A little recap for everyone: research the desired product, obtain knowledge in order to execute confidence, have passion and absolute desire (this entails that you will not back down), NEGOTIATE!!!

My desired purchases were:

  • A new dishwasher in white to match my cabinets
  • A tear-out of the current cabinets to make room for the dishwasher
  • A range in stainless steel
  • An OTR (over the range for you new folks) microwave also in stainless steel
I estimated that this remodel with new appliances and labor would cost me roughly $1,500 prior to any of my discounts of course :)

After looking around Home Depot, Sears, online, and Lowe's I decided to pursue http://www.Lowes.com due to it offering the best deals for me.  I being a Realtor am entitled to an automatic 10% off discount when I shop at Lowe's.  I also had my sales associate price match Home Depot's 10% off all appliances sale.  By combining these discounts I was able to save $280.00!!!!  Stay tuned for upcoming pictures of my remodel.

My mom made me a deal that if I sold any of her old furniture on KSL Classifieds that all the proceeds could go to my "Save Amanda Bria Allen's NO More Washing Dishes By Hand Fund".  By doing this as well as selling my old range, vent/hood, and microwave I was able to accumulate $365 to put towards my new appliances and remodel!  Selling items that you no longer use or want is a FABULOUS route to justify new purchases.  My motto is if you have not used/worn it in the last 6 months then sell it to someone that will!!

**GeTTinG to KnOw ThE GiRL BeHInD the BLoG**

About Bria

I never thought I would join the blog world, but people were constantly asking me where and how I get all of my bargains. So, here I am to share my knowledge to all those who are interested.

If anyone knows me well enough they know that Amanda Bria Allen ALWAYS has a coupon for every event, meal, item of clothing, you name it and I have a discount for it!  Call it a passion; or some may call it an obsession, but I am here to tell you that I am THE BARGAIN GIRL!  You will rarely, if ever see me pay full price for anything!  If I want something then you bet your bottom dollar I will research or find a way to get my hands on the item at the best possible price.  For heavens sakes I get my hair cut at Dollar Cuts and even then I use a $3 off coupon making the cost come down to $6.00!!

My passion for a good deal stems from my childhood.  My brother, sister, and myself were raised by a single mom.  She taught us kids how to turn a penny into $100.00 and made it always look so easy too.  My mom, Judy Kae Allen, is truly the reason for my ability and gifts that of which I plan to share with you.  My mom has a motto that anything can truly be made better with a little elbow grease and/or some paint.  I plan on sharing a couple of pieces of furniture that were hand-me-downs given to me when I moved out that we painted up and restored into quite fancy pieces of furniture.

My New Year’s Resolution was to find deals on everything I needed/wanted.  So, hopefully some of the bargains that I will be posting will be items that you are also looking for yourself. If not, then just have fun browsing the blog and checking out all the fun pictures!

I am very good at finding deals by knowing all the tricks. So, if any of you want something and it is too much money; then write me a message and I can probably find a good deal for you.

You can talk the talk.....

but can you walk the walk?  Today, my best friend suggested that not only do I incorporate the good deals that I come across, but also I needed to share my capabilities as a bargainer.  I get told probably daily that I look like Cameron Diaz (ha ha) and that I ALWAYS get people to do what I want.  At first I was kind of taken off guard by that comment.... am I brat or something?  As I thought about it though, it is quite true!  If something does not feel right to me or I do not feel I am getting the best deal I will suggest (in some cases strongly encourage) that the price meet my demands :)  The way in which I go about doing this is a gift from my parents; both of them being in sales their entire life.  When I was a child my teachers would always tell my mom at parents teacher conference that they were extremely grateful to have me in their class because I kept the other kids in line.  It became a family joke that I would in fact be the first female president due to this talent that I possessed.  By no means do I ever use this gift to do harm unto others though.  I am a firm believer in karma as well as the old saying "do unto others as you would have done unto you".  I myself am in sales and therefore I am extremely cautious of people's time being very valuable.  Lets be honest I purchased my car last year after spending no more than fifteen minutes test driving the vehicle.  Prior to the initial meeting with the salesperson I had done my part by researching online to determine fair trade-in value as well as a fair purchase price for the vehicle.  It is crucial that as bargain hunters we do our part prior to every negotiating on  the value of any item.  With that background information you will have the required confidence and know how in order to persuade anyone.  That being said, I want everyone to narrow in on your next big purchase and take my advice prior to making any commitments in purchasing the item.  Trust me in the long run the ten minutes spent researching and deciding a bottom line price you are willing to spend will save you vast amounts of money!!!

Take for instance this receipt from Smith's, at the bottom it tells you how much you have saved by using coupons.  This receipt was in September and I had already saved $210.54!!!  Each $.50 coupon truly does add up quickly.  Get out there with your new knowledge and get saving!!!

WHO WANTS A BARGAIN?

Welcome back everyone!

Today I have a deal for YOU!  Is anyone in the market for new furniture?  Well, I was and by using my negotiating power I was able to save $1,600.00 and manage to also get FREE delievery!!!  What do you ask did I purchase?

An island for my kitchen that pulls out into a table that INCLUDES two bar stools.  This piece of furniture is top of line to say the least.  It is from a well-known, reputable company known as Broyhill.  This island is no joke basically amazing and literally has changed my kitchen.

After shopping around for what I wanted for a few weeks, one day my mom and I decided to check-out RC Willey.  The second I saw my island I was blown away.  It happened to be a floor model with two tiny scratches on it.  Thus making it discounted to $1,100 from the $2,200 original asking price.  After ten minutes I had the salesman down to $800, but I still was not a 100% satisfied with that price.  This is where I pulled out my big guns (ha ha) and truly worked some magic.  I had him pull over his manager and point blank asked, "Sir, is this truly the best price you can give me and still walk away making a decent commission for yourself and team?"  And there went another $100 off with a bonus of free delivery.   GO ME huh?

CUPID CUTS COSTS

Valentine's presents do not have to make a huge dent in your checking account in order to make that special someone feel loved.  By shopping at my favorite consignment store in Salt Lake City on Highland Drive, Name Droppers, I was able to purchase five shirts for under $50.00.  This made each shirt average in at about $10.00 a piece which is a phenomenal price given dudes clothing is expensive.  The shirts were all name brand from various stores such as: AE, Aeropostle, and Hollister.  So, basically my boyfriend was stoked that he received an early Valentine's present.... and not to mention he looks hot in em!! ;)

My tip today for all your bargain hunters is to check out Name Droppers and snag up some goodies for that special someone in your life.

Dress the Part at an Affordable Price!!

I was able to snag this black dress for a good friend's wedding reception.  All the bridesmaids were asked to wear a black dress of any style.  Myself being the bargain hunter that I am was able to pick this particular dress up at Target in the 75% off section (it is by Maternity Section).  I also had a $5.00 off coupon for any Merona brand.  So, with those two discounts combined I was able to get the dress for $5; which originally was sold for $39.00!!

**Lets not tell the bride about my screaming deal ;0  I still totally love ya B, but a girl has to take advantage of a great deal like that!

NORDSTROM HIGH QUALITY BOOTS AT A GREAT PRICE!

I purchased these boots awhile back, but I was able to snag them for such an amazing deal that I felt I better share with my fans.  While in NYC for a College Graduation Trip with my mom and brother I saw these beautiful boots and knew they needed ME!  That being said I was not willing to fork out $189 for them.  So, I remembered seeing an out-of-state discount that Macy's offers to anyone that showed their license was from another state.  (They do this in all 50 states, as long as your license is different than the state you are trying to purchase from does not match yours then you will be golden).  I then remembered that Nordstrom was in the Mall Coupon Book that I got from the Customer Service Booth.  Nordstrom also price matches other competitor's prices.  By remembering all these details I was able to snag these boots for $99.00.

Another article I would like to spotlight from this picture is the purple cardigan that I picked up for $11.00 from Target, yes Target!  It was on clearance and then I had a $3.00 off coupon from Target.com that is for all Merona Items.

"Always remember to combine many resources to reap the best bottom line."

Chic Skirt for $4.99... this is NOT a joke!

Check out OldNavy.com or visit your nearest store for fabulous deals.  Also, make sure to print out the coupon for $10 off if you spend $50 or more for extra savings.

Always remember that each and every piece is required when creating the "perfect" outfit.  When doing this try and pick-up pieces when available at a low cost.  This American Eagle shirt is 2 years old as well as the brown tights that I paired with the skirt.  That being said I was still left noticed at Nordstrom's that day by EVERY female!  I probably received well over 100 comments on how well I accessorized and coordinated my outfit :)

Taking value in ones' appearance shows confidence as well as self-value.

"OWN EVERY OUTFIT TO A T LADIES!"

This is another photo shot of another way I paired my $4.99 skirt to create an absolutely adorable outfit.... GO ME!
